A very “buddhist” metaphor that reminds me of a german proverb I love: “Stille Wasser sind tief”, it means that “stills water are deep”… beautiful, and wonderful picture (I love lakes… and misty lakes even more!) have a nice (and stilll) day Rachael 🙂
We have a similar expression in the UK, Frederic. Water, whatever it is up to, always seems to quieten the mind. Maybe that’s why we love it so much. xx
The hushed and tranquil tone you create gives me chills, galvanizes me to go meditate (sadly, sans lake or sea….except for the ones I imagine :)). Thank you, as always. xoxo
Thank you, Chloe. I’m not getting anywhere near water either just now, but the imaginary lake is doing just fine until I can make time to find a place to go dabble in. Hope you’re doing fine. xxx
Your poem made me stop and think. I believe both images to be true, the stillness and the waves, they just show us two sides of the same thing. Both are true pictures and often at the same time. I really liked this poem very much.
Thank you. I was trying to illustrate a kind of paradox where there are a number of ways of perceiving. It was an exercise in exploring the idea of consciousness – if that makes sense. Again, thank you for commenting on what is perhaps a difficult poem make sense of.

Reblogged this on ram0ram note book.
Fantastic image and reflection, Rachael. I enjoyed the beauty completely 🙂
Thanks, Laine. I hope that nice feeling stays with you awhile 🙂
🙂
I love images of reflections, and your words are the perfect compliment to the scene,
Thanks, Dan. I so agree. There’s something almost other worldly about reflections; sometimes almost transcendental.

Beautifully written. Your words possess such a calming effect. 🙂 ❤
Thank you! I’m sure the spirit of this haiku has been expressed many times before, but it feels good to be able to say it anyway ❤ ❤
Yes! And why not if you can add your own essence to it. ❤ :')
A clssic piece of wisdom, beautifully expressed, Rachael.
As ever, Chris – thank you 🙂
awww…that’s beautiful
Thank you ❤
Wonderful…and as always seeped in truth. To be still allows for reflection 🙂
Thank you. Hard to be still sometimes… 🙂
Very Zen. This reminds me of the Zen advice to quiet the mind. Well done, Rachael.
Thank you. I think that’s where I must have got the idea from. Hope all well, my friend.

Beautifully expressed…it goes really well with the image also!
Thank you. Mariam. Your comment is much valued 🙂
