Oooo, love the quietude and ethereal, eternal sensibility of poem and photo, Rachael. I think our heron may be migrating for winter :/. Thanks for the loveliness. xxo
The simple haiku are the hardest to write, so thank you, Chloe. I’m sorry your herons leave over the winter – surely not all of them – but like the swallows, etc., it will be magic when they return. Our grey heron stays all year round, blending into the clear, pale winter landscape. xxx
p.s. OK, so how’s this for synchronicity? Right after I wrote the comment above, I went outside to the marsh, something I haven’t been able to do for several days, and started dancing. With the first sweeping, low gesture of my arms, whoosh! A giant blue heron flew from the trees across the marsh. Whaaaaat?! And right after this, as I kept going, an egret flew by. Yay! You were right: a heron time of year. My apologies to the heron and you for believing they had flown the coop :). And thank you for helping me conjure…..
Love the photo (and the words).
Thank you ๐
Looks like a Japanese printโฆperfect and absolutely gorgeous.
Glad you liked it. Couldn’t decide whether the photo was boring or apt.Doh!

I’m beginning to think autumn is the easiest time to realise the magic of things…xx
